FAQs
Serving in Offline Mode

- A user can only login while Offline if that user has successfully logged into Meals Plus Web at least once before while Online. This allows Meals Plus to securely one-way encrypt and store their password, so in the event a user needs to serve in Offline Mode, Meals Plus can validate their login credentials.
- A user must also have been to the Point of Sale Serve Date and Site Selection form, and clicked Continue. This is where student data is downloaded and stored for future (Offline Mode) use.

- All offline data is stored within Chrome's browser based database which is called ‘IndexedDB’. It can be viewed in the browser via the development tools.
- The Offline data is currently not encrypted.
- If a user clears their browser history/cache etc., the Offline database will be deleted as well.

- There are no known limitations as of yet.
- The Offline browser-stored database could potentially be too large for the client's data. Chrome only allows the database to be 10% of the user's hard drive. Example: If the user has a 32GB hard drive, Chrome would only allow the database to grow to 3GB. This has not been an issue thus far.

- When the user goes from being Offline to Online, a background process begins syncing the transactions that occurred while Offline. There are no extra steps for the user to push the transactions to the server.

- The day gets unclosed and the transactions are added. The only issue would be if this user does not have access to Unclose Days, then Meals Plus Web will prompt the user for a login credentials for an account that has access to Unclose Days.
